Brief History of the Department:
Higher education at entire Borholla area was a dream before the establishment of Borholla College. It came into existence in the year 1990 because of the positive initiative and guidance of some local people and academicians. Along with the establishment of the college, the Department of History also started its academic journey. Formerly the department offered BA General Course only and in due course of time it introduced Honours Course in the academic session 2005-2006 with proper approval from the affiliating university. Since then it has been offering parallel courses in BA General and BA Honours. Since its establishment, the department is very much fortunate to have dedicated faculty members who have contributed a lot for the development of the department throughout the ages. The founder faculty members of the department were Mr. Bhola Gogoi and Late Ratneswar Hazarika. After that the department received the service of different faculty members during the past years. They are Mr. Bijoy Krishna Pachani, Mrs. Puspa Dhandia, Late Ujjal Kumar Chetia, Mr. Horen Bhuyan and Mrs. Moyuri Bora.
At present the department has two full time faculties with different specialization in the subject with years of experience in teaching History. They are Mrs. Puspa Dhandia with specialization in Ancient History and with an experience of thirty years and Mrs. Moyuri Bora with specialization in Modern Indian History and with an experience of twelve years. The department prepares the students for a wide range of careers of all backgrounds. Each and every learner that comes to the department are treated equally and educated equally for their career support and personal development.
