About the Department:
History and human society are closely related to each other. The Department of History of Borholla College has a legacy of scholarship since its establishment in 1990 along with the establishment of the institution. As an academic department it has started its journey with BA program in General Course. In due course of time the department acquired the required permission from the affiliating University to introduce Honours Course in History from the session 2005 – 2006. Since then it has been providing higher education in history following the syllabus framed by the University from time to time.
Most of the students of the department come from the agrarian society amidst which the institute is situated and some of them belong to the underprivileged and economically weaker sections. The faculty strives to improve their knowledge of the past and their skills of analytical thinking, coherent argument and clarity of expression. The department has an internal forum i.e “Itihas Chora” which focuses on co – curricular and extension activities on the basis of inter-disciplinary approach. It maintains a departmental library with the limited resources the department possesses. The department is immensely proud of its alumni who are doing some excellent jobs for the society and for their successful careers. It is in contact with the most of the passed out students of the department and maintains a cordial relationship through a well organized Alumni Forum.
