Brief History of the Assamese Department :-
Borholla College situated in Jorhat District of Assam was established in the year 1990 with a view to spread higher education the area of which was socio-economically backward. Along with the other existing subject from the beginning Assamese too as a discipline has been a part of curriculum right.
Since the establishment of Borholla College MIL and Advance Assamese core subject. In Assamese language was started. In 1996 it had opened Major in Assamese. Major in Assamese has been continuing through different systems of B.A. Courses i.e. (2+1), (1+1+1) and present of time providing B.A. Semester Course with Major subject Recently on CBSC Course providing with semester course in 2019.
